Collision on Kell and Lawrence Sends One to Hospital

Emergency responders were on the scene of a collision Monday afternoon at the intersection of Kell and Lawrence. The collision occurred when a driver in a Chrysler 300 ran a red light. The driver in the Chrysler struck a sports utility vehicle travelling westbound on Kell Access Road. This T-bone collision sent at least one person to the hospital.

The collision occurred just after 12:00 in the afternoon. News Channel Six reported that the driver of the Chrysler T-boned an Isuzu Rodeo. The driver of the Isuzu was pinned in the vehicle when emergency responders arrived. Members of Wichita Falls Fired Department had to use the jaws of life to free the driver. The diver was immediately taken to United Regional Hospital for treatment. The three occupants of the Chrysler are reported to have refused medical treatment on the scene. News Channel Six reported that the driver sustained leg fractures.

There is no word yet on why the driver of the Chrysler ran the red light. Was it a blatant disregard for the traffic law? Was he or she distracted? According to the Centers for Disease Control, 15 people are killed each day in crashes that involve a distracted driver. In addition, they also report that over 1,200 people are injured each day in crashes involving distracted drivers. Regardless of whether or not the driver was distracted, running a red light is against the law. When traffic laws are broken innocent people can get injured or killed.

If you have been injured in a car wreck, you should contact an experienced personal injury lawyer in Wichita Falls as soon as possible. In many cases, it may not be immediately clear if a driver was distracted or not. An experienced lawyer can look at phone records to determine if a driver was texting or checking email in the moments leading up to the crash. In addition, an attorney can also stay up-to-date with official law enforcement investigations. It is important to have an advocate during this difficult time. Distracted drivers and drivers who disobey traffic laws can be held liable for the damages caused during wrecks. Damages can include medical bills, lost wages and property damage. Victims should not have to worry about ensuring the responsible party is held accountable. Victims should focus on getting better. The Team at the Altman Legal Group wishes the victim a speedy and full recovery.
