Fire Destroys Three Buildings in Chillicothe

A fire in Chillicothe destroyed three buildings on Monday, including an antique store and a drycleaner. According to KFDX News Channel Three, the incident happened at about 10:30 a.m. on the corner of FM 91 and US 287, in downtown Chillicothe. Two workers and the owner of the antique store were in the buildings when the fire started. Thankfully, all three of them were able to escape.

Between 80 and 100 Firefighters on the Scene

At this time, officials suspect that the two workers were welding on a tank, located behind the antique store and drycleaner, which may have contained a liquid or powder substance that caught fire. Firefighters and first responders from Chillicothe, Vernon and Quanah were on the scene battling the flames for hours. The three buildings that were burned down included the antique store, a drycleaner and a building that was being used for storage.
