On Monday night, a head-on collision sent at least two people to the hospital in Wichita Falls. According to KFDX News Channel Three, the incident occurred sometime before 7:00 p.m. on Southwest Parkway, across the street from the Plex. Apparently, a blue Pontiac Vibe was going the wrong way down Southwest Parkway when it struck a Chevrolet pickup truck head-on.
Both Drivers Injured in the Crash
First responders were on the scene swiftly, and the drivers in both vehicles were taken to United Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries. There’s no word on whether or not there were any passengers in either car. Although the injuries were described as ‘non-life threatening,’ there’s no information on the extent of those injuries or the current conditions of the drivers. The roadway had to be closed for almost an hour, as crews worked to clear the scene.
Wrong-Way Crashes in Wichita Falls
At this time, we do not know why the driver was headed the wrong way down Southwest Parkway. Very few details have been released about the crash. Could it have been a case of drunk driving? Was the driver disoriented for some reason? How old was the wrong-way driver?
