First responders with the Brownwood Fire Department were on the scene of a house fire, early Friday morning. The fire occurred just after midnight on the 700 block of China Street. It wasn’t long before the house was fully engulfed in flames. Luckily, all of the occupants were able to escape. There is no word yet on the extent of the damage or the cause of the fire. Crews were on the scene from various investigative departments. The Brownwood Fire Department, the Brownwood Police Department, the Fire Marshal’s office and first responders with Guardian EMS were on the scene. In addition, the power company Oncor was also swiftly on location. The Red Cross was notified to assist the victims during this difficult time.
Questions still remain about the cause of the fire. It is not uncommon for improperly maintained power lines to spark and start fires. In addition, if transformers aren’t properly maintained they can easily become fire hazards. There are a number of reasons why this fire could have been started. An experienced fire damage attorney can keep abreast of investigative progress. The Fire Marshal’s office will likely do a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire. They will analyze forensic evidence and burn patterns to determine who or what was responsible for starting the fire.
Although North Texas has gotten quite a lot of moisture in the past few weeks, dangerous fires can still pose a serious threat to local property and citizens. Last year, we covered a story about Wildfires in Colorado. Those wildfires were responsible for damaging over 1,700 acres of land. It doesn’t take long for a small fire to grow quickly out of hand. Citizens in Wichita Falls and other North Texas communities are not unfamiliar with the dangers of out-of-control fires.
