North Texas Motorcycle Wreck Caught on Tape

On Saturday afternoon, a motorcycle crash involving an aggressive driver was caught on tape in North Texas. According to KFDX News Channel Three, the incident happened about five miles north of Granbury on a country road. The motorcycle was getting ready to pass a car that slowed down to 40 miles per hour in a 65 mile-per-hour zone, when the driver intentionally swerved and clipped the bike. The motorcycle riders, Eric Sanders and his girlfriend, were thrown from the vehicle and tossed beside the roadway.

Aggressive Driver Swerves Into Motorcycle

It’s hard to believe that anybody would intentionally try to endanger another human being’s life, but the whole incident was caught on a motorcycle rider’s helmet camera. The footage also includes an unashamed driver who shows little to no regard for his actions or the wellbeing of the two injured riders. Thankfully, the driver involved, William Crum, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Eric Sanders’ girlfriend was sent to Fort Worth hospital for treatment of a broken wrist and deep lacerations to her arm.

Aggressive Driving in Texoma

Distracted driving isn’t the only danger facing motorcycle riders and other roadway users in Texoma. Aggressive driving behaviors like swerving can also endanger lives. Drivers who intentionally threaten others with their vehicles might also be engaging in road rage. Motorcycle riders are an especially vulnerable group, because they don’t have the safety features that drivers and passengers in traditional motor vehicles have. Even with helmets, jackets and other protective gear, they can become catastrophically or fatally injured in accidents involving other drivers in larger motor vehicles.

Share The Road

Officials with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) are encouraging drivers to “Share the Road” with motorcycle riders, pedestrians, cyclists and other roadway users. Although motorcyclists may not have the benefit of air bags and seat belts, they are entitled to the same rights and privileges as other motorists. Drivers are reminded to put down the distractions, watch out for motorcycle riders and Share the Road safely with all roadway users.

After any kind of motorcycle accident, it’s a good idea to speak with a skilled personal injury lawyer. A lawyer can be your advocate as you recover from your injuries. The team at the Altman Legal Group wishes Eric Sanders and his girlfriend full and swift recoveries from their injuries.
