Semi Truck Crash in Dallas

On Monday afternoon, a semi truck crashed on Interstate 45 in Dallas. According to KFDX News Channel Three, the one-vehicle wreck happened in the northbound lanes of I-45 over a bridge, near Simpson Stuart Road. The truck driver apparently lost control of the large big rig, and the cab portion of the truck slid over the edge of the bridge. The trailer remained overturned in the roadway until Tuesday, as the front portion of the truck dangled above the ground.

Thankfully, the truck driver was able to escape from the cab by jumping into a creek below the bridge. He then climbed back up the median and called emergency services. Lieutenant Matthew Edwards, of the Dallas Police Department, said the driver was lucky to escape with his life. Although few details were released about the crash, and the cause is likely still under investigation, the bridge was reportedly covered with ice at the time of the crash. Luckily, no other vehicles were involved, and the truck driver was able to escape safely.

Crashes Involving Semi Trucks in Texoma

Wrecks involving semi trucks and smaller passenger occupant vehicles can be devastating and deadly for victims. Tractor-trailers are so much larger and heavier than smaller cars and light trucks. Commercial truck drivers and trucking companies have additional rules and regulations to follow in order to keep the roads safe for all users. If truck drivers or commercial trucking companies are found to have violated regulations that resulted in an injury-causing or fatal crash, they need to be held accountable.
