Small Plane Crash Kills Family from Wichita Falls

Last weekend, a family with ties to Wichita Falls was killed in a small plane crash. According to KFDX News Channel Three, the incident happened just after takeoff from the Cook Canyon Ranch Airport, near Ranger. John and Debi Weaver of Granbury along with their daughter, 33-year-old Courtney Weaver, were killed in the crash. Although Courtney was currently working in the Houston area, she attended Wichita Falls High School as a teenager.

Lancair LC 40 Crashed into Wooded Area

Initial reports indicate that the single-engine Lancair LC 40 went down about 85 miles from the airport, shortly after takeoff. The aircraft landed in a wooded area, and officials with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are still investigating the cause of the crash. Services were held at the Wade Family Funeral Home and Trinity United Methodist Church in Arlington, Texas.

Multiple Aviation Crashes in North Texas

Strangely, small plane crashes in and around North Texas have been happening all summer. Last week, we reported on a fatal small plane crash in Montague County. A man and his 10-year-old son were killed in that wreck, which is likely still under investigation with the FAA. Another North Texas small aircraft crash took the life of a 71-year-old pilot. Two crashes even happened in Wichita Falls within a few weeks of one another. Thankfully, pilots and passengers in those crashes survived.

Small Plane Crashes and Aviation Accident Investigation

No matter what size the plane is, federal investigations always follow aviation crashes. FAA investigators and officials are likely trying to determine exactly what caused each individual plane crash in order to find out if the crash could have been prevented or if similar types of crashes can be prevented in the future. These investigations are often incredibly in depth, and investigators must have the knowledge, education and experience to forensically examine a variety of potential mechanical issues and human errors.

Hiring an Attorney with Aviation Experience

Although aviation accidents can be lengthy and time consuming, hiring a personal injury attorney with aviation experience will help to get the ball rolling on your case. If a plane crash is the result of a defective part, mechanical malfunction, manufacturing error or certain other reason, victims or their surviving family members will be able to recover compensation for the damages associated with the crash. The team at the Altman Legal Group sends their deepest condolences to the family members and friends of the Weaver Family.

Fatal Small Plane Crash in North Texas

Last Friday, two people were killed when a small plane crashed in Montague County, northwest of Fort Worth. According to WFAA ABC News Channel Eight, the victims were 51-year-old Lawrence Liptack and his 10-year-old son Landon Liptack. For currently unknown reasons, the twin-engine Cessna went down on a private piece of property near the Bowie Municipal Airport. The plane apparently landed on its belly, but scorched grass around the wreckage shows how large the fire was.

Father and Son Killed in Small Plane Crash

Neighbors reportedly didn’t hear any the crash happen, and were only alerted to the scene when emergency service vehicles were dispatched. Very little information has been released about this crash which took the lives of a father and son from Manvel, near Houston.

Investigators and officials with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) were on scene over the weekend trying to determine the cause of the crash. Recent reports indicate that investigators still don’t know if the plane was landing or taking off at the time of the crash, although there is some suspicion that the plane was approaching the airport.

Small Plane Crashes in North Texas

Sadly, this hasn’t been the first small aircraft crash in North Texas this summer. In July, we reported on a fatal plane crash that took the life of a 71-year-old pilot. Prior to that crash, there were two other small plane wrecks that happened in Wichita Falls. Thankfully, the pilots and passengers from those two crashes did survive, although there’s no word on the extent of their injuries.

Very little information has been released about how these investigations have been going. The FAA takes small aircraft crashes very seriously, even if the pilot and passengers are able to walk away from the scene. Determining the causes of these plane crashes is likely a top priority, in efforts to prevent potentially similar wrecks.

Aviation Accidents

Determining the cause of the crash is the most important step in any aviation accident investigation. If you have been injured or you have lost a loved one in a plane crash, you need to speak with skilled personal injury attorney with knowledge and experience in the aviation industry. It’s important to have a lawyer who can stay on top of federal investigative developments. The team at the Altman Legal Group sends their deepest condolences to the family members and friends of Lawrence and Landon Liptack.

Small Plane Crashes in Texas

Last week, a pilot died in a West Texas plane crash. According to KSWO News Channel Seven, the incident happened sometime on Sunday afternoon. The pilot, 71-year-old Weldon Pat Oden of Blackwell, was flying his single-engine Kitfox, when for currently unknown reasons, the plane crashed. He took off from a private airstrip midday on Sunday.

His relatives reported him missing, when he did not come back from the flight. KSWO News did report that he may have been working on his plane prior to flying on Sunday, but there’s currently no word on what caused the crash.

The wreckage was found about seven miles west of Blackwell in Nolan County, which is about 50 miles southwest of Abilene. At this time, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is still trying to determine exactly what caused the crash.

Small Plane Crashes in Wichita Falls

This isn’t the only small plane crash to happen across Texas in the past few weeks. Two separate small plane wrecks happened in Wichita Falls recently. Thankfully, everybody survived the crashes in each case. Last week, a small plane went down in a field off of Archer City Highway. The wreck happened at about 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Thankfully, both occupants in the plane were able to walk away from the scene. Officials from the FAA are investigating this incident as well.

The Monday before that crash, a pilot was practicing touch-and-go landings at the Wichita Valley airport, when he lost control of his aircraft. He had to crash land in a nearby field. The pilot was also able to walk away from the scene of the crash. There’s currently no word on what caused the pilot to lose control of the plane.
