Commercial Trucking Safety Compliance

This week, inspectors and investigators with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) have been participating in Roadcheck 2015. According to KFDX News Channel Three, Roadcheck is an annual three-day enforcement event to increase safety compliance of motor carriers, vehicles, drivers, cargo and security in the commercial trucking and bus industry. This year, Roadcheck 2015 is running from June 2 – 4, and DPS troopers will be out in full force looking for semi trucks and buses with equipment violations or drivers who are not complying with both state and federal regulations.

Roadcheck 2014 Results in Texas

Last year, DPS troopers and other law enforcement agencies across the state inspected 8,714 commercial vehicles during Roadcheck. They found that over 20 percent of all vehicles had serious violations that required the trucks or buses to be put out of service until issues were addressed. Driving violations also caused 263 drivers to be put out of service. These types of violations included drivers who were on the road for too many hours or failure to be properly licensed for the rig they were driving. Both of these violations can be incredibly dangerous and put other motorists on Texas roadways at great risk for injury-causing or fatal accidents.

Trucks Accidents in Texoma

Truck accidents in Wichita Falls and other Texoma communities can leave victims in the hospital, or worse.
