Wichita Falls Man Suffers from Electrical Burn at Wal-Mart

Earlier this week, a Wichita Falls man was injured in an electrical fire at the Wal-Mart in Graham. According to KDFX News Channel Three, Christopher Wilbur had to be air lifted to the burn unit at Parkland Hospital in Dallas after the incident. Apparently, he was working on an electrical panel when he caught fire. He was alone at the time, but witness reports indicate that he was on fire when he ran out of the electrical room.

Wal-Mart Employees Extinguish the Flames

Employees at Wal-Mart were able to extinguish the flames on his body prior to first responders arriving. Very little information has been released about this incident which is surely still under investigation with authorities. Officials did not release any information regarding the extent of his injuries, but he was still listed in critical condition as of Thursday morning. There is also no word on whether or not he was a hired electrical contractor or a regular employee of Wal-Mart.

When to Contact a Lawyer

If you or a loved one has suffered from a burn injury, contact an experienced personal injury lawyer with burn injury case experience as soon as possible. A skilled attorney can obtain all government reports necessary to the case from the Fire Marshall’s Office and other investigative agencies. Especially in cases where burn injuries happen in the workplace, it may be necessary to make a claim against the employer.

Making a Burn Injury Claim

Where large multi-national corporations like Wal-Mart are concerned, you need to have an experienced attorney on your side. If a burn injury could have been prevented, something needs to be done. Was Wilbur properly trained to work on the electrical box? If the electrical box was defective or unsafe, he could have a claim against the manufacturer.

Burn Injury Victims

Whether you were injured in an electrical fire, house fire or suffered from some type of chemical burn, rehabilitation can be lengthy and painful. Multiple surgical procedures may be necessary to graft skin. In many cases, victims are left with long-term disfigurement, numbness and pain.

Burn injury victims need to have dedicated and skilled attorneys on their side. Following up with the investigative efforts of law enforcement agencies will be the first step in determining how something like this could have happened. The team at the Altman Legal Group wishes Christopher Wilbur a speedy and full recovery from his injuries.
