The Dangers of Texting While Driving

Texting and driving has become a lethal combination. This year, distracted driving was responsible for almost 6,000 deaths in the United States. Texting while driving has been banned in many states already. A study conducted by the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute found that drivers who text are 23 times more likely to get in an accident. The dangers of distracted driving are indisputable. Texting while driving has also become a dangerous problem in our own community. Law enforcement officials in Wichita Falls stated that 116 accidents in the past 12 months were due, in part, to cell phone use.
