Trailer and Barn Fire in Iowa Park

Earlier this week, a trailer and a barn burned down in the Iowa Park area. According to KFDX News Channel Three, the fire started sometime before midnight, in the 2400 block of FM 367. Deputies, first responders and firefighters with the local fire and police departments were swiftly on the scene, where the barn and RV trailer home were already fully engulfed by flames. Very few details have been released about this fire. Thankfully, no injuries were immediately reported, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation with authorities.

House Fire in Wichita Falls

Just last month, we reported on a house fire that displaced a family in Wichita Falls. The fire was thought to have started somewhere in the attic, and 17 firefighting and law enforcement units worked to contain the blaze. Thankfully, the two people inside of the home and their dog were able to get out of the house before it was completely engulfed in flames.

‘Tis the Season for House Fire Safety

With dipping temperatures, more families are looking to space heaters to warm their homes. Unfortunately, space heaters accounted for about one third of all home heater fires from 2007 to 2011. The National Fire Protection Association has a variety of tips for safely using space heaters during the cold weather. Consumers are always encouraged to follow the manufacturer’s instructions. If you think your space heater is defective, contact the manufacturer immediately, and if a faulty space heater caused a fire in your home, call an experienced personal injury lawyer as soon as possible.

Recovering From a House Fire

The holiday season can be an especially difficult time to recover from a house fire. Even if you and your family escaped without injury, you could be looking at serious property damage or a total loss of your home. In most cases, it’s impossible to even grab a few essential items or heirlooms on the way out the door. You literally escape with the clothes on your back.

When to Contact a Fire Damage Lawyer

If you have been injured in a fire due to a defective space heater, you need to speak with a personal injury lawyer who has fire damage experience as soon as possible. It may be necessary to conduct additional investigative efforts to determine the cause of the fire, so the sooner you speak with an attorney, the better.
